I remember Tony Curtis playing Houdini in an old movie. One particular scene struck me, I am paraphrasing here: “They will never be satisified!” He died shortly after that scene. Here is the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045886/mediaviewer/rm221219328

Sorry for the late reply. My bad! The Houdini post relates to my time as a graduate student at OSU when I was trying to get my manuscripts published. Nearly all manuscripts get rejected at least once and sometimes more than once. Each time, the author tries to take recommendations from the reviewer to heart and improve the manuscript either through additional edits or by addressing concerns using additional research. In my case, however, it eventually became obvious to me that it wasn’t editing or additional research that was the problem. They just didn’t like what I was saying and they weren’t gonna publish it no matter what I did. Simple as that!
